Full Hearts

Last Friday, Chris showed up at my office with roses for me. Completely a surprise and hand delivered to boot. It is wonderful to have little surprises like that in your life. Later that evening we had our date night. Dinner and a movie. We saw Gran Torino, and both enjoyed it. Our friends little sister is the main girl character Sue Lor. It was nice having our own 2 degrees of separation :-) We even managed to be home before 10. Date night sure is different when you are married. I think it is more enjoyable to be together on a date when you already share a life together. You have comfort, love and none of the jitters. Everyone talks of the beginning of relationships and the excitement, but I am happy to be where I am now. Of course we all enjoyed the beginnings and newness, but when you have found that true love and have a partnership, it is truly beautiful. I am one for comfort, always have been, so being happily married and content in my family is a joy for me.

On Saturday we had a family Valentine's Day. We took the kids to breakfast at one of their favorite restaurants, Mimi's Cafe. Then we decided to go to the mall. We went to a mall we had never been to before, and wow it was amazing. It is definitely a high end mall with stores that I will probably never be able to afford, but we had a good time. We walked all three stories of the mall, perused through the shops and talked with each other. Cara and I stopped by the Build A Bear workshop and she built a bunny that she named Hoppy. Hoppy of course had to have a cute outfit, shoes, hat and matching purse. While we did that Allan & Chris headed to the video game store where Allan got some new games for the Wii. We ate at the food court and decided to head home. On the way home I mentioned that I wanted ice cream, so Chris took us to Dairy Queen. It was a wonderful, fantastic, super special day. We rarely do things like this because we are always conscious of our spending. So it was a nice treat for everyone.

We also went to Kohl's that day and I got some new clothes. I don't like shopping for myself, it is hard for me to justify spending money on myself. So Chris gently prodded me in to buying a few shirts and shorts to go along with the jeans that I needed. He knows me so well and knows exactly what I need to hear to be okay with certain things. I am enjoying the new clothes and I did need them for work. I am thankful that I was lucky enough to meet this man and spend my life with someone who cares for me so much.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed whatever they did.
