Allan is 10!

Today my eldest child Allan turned 10.  Wow, double digits already.  We didn't get to do our usual family dinner tonight because Allan had a basketball game.  His game wasn't until 7:30 so we left work at 6:30, ate really quick at home, changed into our uniform and headed back.  His coach was nice enough to mention to the team that it was his birthday so everyone wished him Happy Birthday which was awesome.  Allan's team won tonight 25-19.  It was in intense game, and made more intense by the elbow that Allan took to the face.  He was on the floor with tears coming out of his eyes, and I did not run on to the floor.  I repeat I DID NOT run on to the floor.  Hurray Mom for understanding that I would have embarassed my child and not been cool at all.  His coaches took care of him and he went back in to the game after sitting out for a little while.  He is improving every week with basketball and you can really see that the practice pays off.  I would like to say thank you to Allan's coach and assistant coach.  They make this team amazing.  Our team wins sportsmanship awards, and they don't play dirty.  I am thankful that Allan's first introduction to team sports is with a positive coach.

Here is a picture of Allan taken by Jeni back in October when he was only 9.  I like it because it is candid and he is unaware of anyone taking his picture.

Thank you God for letting me be his mother.  I love this boy and being his mother is a true joy!

Okay, I have a cold kicking my rear and so I am going to bed, the mother of a 10 year old.

Sleep tight,
Andi

  1. Probably a good thing Aunt Amy lives in another state, she wouldn't have been able to sit in the stands while her pumpkin butt took an elbow to the eye. My sister must know this and that's why I'm finding out about it in a blog :O) She's aware of how it would have affected me, ha ha
