Perspective never hurt anyone...too much

So I have a confession. I love TV. Probably more than other people think I should. However, I don't sit and watch it and let my family slide to the wayside. So even though I love TV I have it under control as far as not letting it take over my life. I also love Tivo, much better than DVR. One of the best things about Tivo is that I can watch at my leisure, skip commercials, and enjoy the TV shows I love in less time and when I want. We usually have a few new episodes of shows well after all of the season finales so we have less summer reruns too.

So my point is that sometimes I see a show a few days later. I watched Sundays Home Makeover show this evening. It was for a family of 9 with an amazing and sad story. The parents had one biological child, and had adopted 6 from China with special needs. They did this because they had love to share and wanted to make a difference to children who may not have had a chance otherwise. Then the father developed a brain tumor, he fought it and went in to remission. As happens he had a relapse and the video of them asking for this makeover included a very poignant emotional part with him admitting that he needed this to know that they would be okay should he pass away. He was given 6 months to 2 years to live after the relapse. The night before the show got there, he went in to the hospital. Long story short, they got the beautiful house and he died 3 days later. I sobbed so much during the show, my heart breaking for this beautiful family and the tragedy they were going through. I believe that he was able to pass more peacefully because he knew that his family was now taken care of.

I am glad for shows like this that let us see the beautiful lives and people that we may not otherwise have had a chance to. Technology has its drawbacks for sure, but I will always be thankful for the opportunity to see the beauty that is human life.
