This week has been filled with ups, downs, and a recurring sickness for me. By Wednesday I was emotionally spent. I felt more drained than I have in a very long time. Enough about my troubles, I feel like taking on a bigger subject. Fasten your seat belts, it might be a bumpy ride.
The economy in our nation is in a shambles and sometimes I want to scream about it. I realize healthcare is a big deal, we are one of the uninsured families out there. However, I feel like creating jobs & getting people back to work is so much more important. Worry about healthcare later. If more people are working, they need less help, it is less of a drain on society as a whole. I am not judging anyone who gets assistance, or needs assistance. I actually think that a lot more people should be getting some help, but there just isn't any more help out there. So please just stop worrying about healthcare for a short time in order to get people working. The people I know who aren't working just want a job, they will worry about everything else after they no longer fear being homeless. When you have small children, keeping a roof over their head and food in their bellies is a very scary thing to have to think about every day.
If you know someone in this situation right now, be a friend. Think about doing something nice, maybe take the kids for the afternoon if you are close to the family. Kids in these families would love a trip to McDonald's or the mall or any where because they are probably not getting to do very many fun things. No one is asking you to save the world, just be the difference in a struggling child's life. It will help the parents in more ways than you could know, and how awesome will you feel when you see the smile on a child's face? Just a thought.
Also this is in no way reflective of my political views. Just personal thoughts. It doesn't take much time to be kind, so we should all find the time. Happy weekend!
