People talk of their favorite holidays often. I find it a hard task to choose one. I enjoy holidays of all shapes and kinds. Halloween was wonderful again this year. My father came to visit and enjoy the holiday with our family and it was wonderful. So Halloween is definitely a favorite because I get to see my dad and enjoy his company, and the kids love to dress up and go trick or treating. We made homemade sauce & spaghetti while he was here, we also made homemade caramel apples with the kids. It was a short but amazing visit. I love having my dad here to talk to, to enjoy being in the same room with, and watching the kids with him. My favorite moments with the kids were when Grandpa was watching tv in his room and Cara was just content to sit in there with him and color. This is a huge sign of how comfortable and happy she is around him. Once Cara is comfortable with you, you don't have to do a lot for her to be happy, she just wants to be around you and share your space. The second moment was when Allan showed Grandpa his drumming skills, they also had some great conversations.
The four days before Dad got here, my very important, wonderful, fantastic, amazing friend Jeni was here with the equally wonderful, amazing, fantastic Matt. What a great time that was. I have not laughed so hard or had so much fun in such a long time. Everyone enjoyed having them here. I can't wait until they can come back to visit. I can't even find enough words to express how wonderful it was.
Now we are in November. Thanksgiving is coming which is yet another amazing holiday. We thought we would be having company from home, but due to circumstances it is not going to happen. It is sad, and we all would have loved to have the company. Instead one of Allan's friends and his mom is going to join us for dinner. It will be nice. We really enjoy their company and it is always a pleasure to feed others. Chris is the king of Thanksgiving dinner. He makes a fantastic meal, and loves to watch others enjoy the food he cooks. So we are still going to have a lovely day and enjoy the long weekend together.
I am declaring this month my month of thanks. My family has come out of a very hard period in our life and through it all we worked hard to still be thankful for what we had and not turn on each other. We are now on the upside after a very long down. Thank you Jesus for getting us through. Thanks for all of you that have seen us through in numerous ways. Thank you for all of the good that may still come our way. Thank you for the lessons on how to get through the darkness and come out on the side of light. I hope you will consider making this your month of thanks. This period of my life has taught me that we all can find something to rejoice in, and that may just be the key to continue to get through. Peace and prayers.
