Well Christmas was an interesting event at the Wheelock household. I had planned ahead and had done so much prep, I thought it would be an easier Christmas Eve. I only had 1 present to wrap, we set everything up, stockings were done and we made it to bed by 11 pm. It was awesome.
Then everything started to go wrong around 1 am. Allan woke up with a bad cough, so we got him some medicine. He had a hard time getting back to sleep and it was almost 3:30 by the time he was back asleep. In the mean time at 1:30 Cara woke up feeling bad. She went to the bathroom to go potty, and midway through had to throw up. She managed to get the wall, half a roll of toilet paper, all over the toilet, herself, her hair, it was a mess. So I stripped her and wiped her hair, passed her off to dad to re-dress her. I cleaned up the bathroom and started a load of laundry, found Cara's bucket for when she is sick and went to bed. Well there was no sleep to be had for me. I was up every 1/2 hour-45 minutes with Cara all night. At one point our goal was to sleep for 1 hour before we had to get back up. She was so sick. At 7:30 Allan came in to our room to start Christmas. He has the rule to wait until 7:30 before he wakes everyone up. We did all the stockings in our bed as is our tradition. After stockings Cara didn't even want to open presents. She felt terrible, so we waited 1/2 an hour but then we didn't want to hold Allan off. So we all went out to the living room to see what Santa had brought. We passed out gifts and halfway through, Cara got sick. She was a trooper and opened all of her gifts, she was excited about everything she got. Then she went back to bed.
We normally have a big breakfast on Christmas, but we all voted to forgo it in light of Cara's sickness. She slept a lot of the day away and didn't talk to anyone. Allan talked to family and expressed his thanks, but she just couldn't do it. She finally started to feel better later that night. Chris was exhausted after all of our adventures, so he turned in early. I stayed up late and let the kids play until 10. I just couldn't make her go to bed when she finally wanted to play with her stuff. So the rest of the weekend turned out good for her, but it was rough going for a while. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and especially no sickness! :-)
